Dr. Castro was born and raised here, in Carlsbad, NM, and decided to return home to help take care of the pets in her native community. Ever since Dr. Castro was a little girl, she always had a passion to work with and care for animals. She has been successfully practicing veterinary medicine for over 10 years and has proudly been with Carlsbad Animal Clinic since July 1, 2014. Her personal and professional drive, passion, and love to care for animals is what makes the practicing of veterinary medicine to her, not just a great career, but moreover, a true calling of life that is so very special to her.

In her off time, Dr. Castro enjoys going to church, reading, hiking, and going on ghost town tours with her husband, Marco, and their dog, Mariposa. Dr. Castro and her husband also love traveling and taking scenic road trips together. She adores spending quality time with Marco, Mariposa and the cat Snuggle Muffin. Mariposa is a lively pet-baby that loves to give kisses and is adored by many. Snuggle Muffin is a pet-baby that certainly holds true to her name and loves to cuddle and snuggle any chance that she gets.
