Dr. Mills grew up in Indiana and has been in love with animals from a young age. Her compassion and extreme empathy led her to veterinary medicine where she enjoys doing her best to serve both her patients and their owners through compassionate care. She tends to have an almost kinetic energy at the clinic and enjoys the fast-paced atmosphere and the general love the Carlsbad community has for their pets. Her veterinary interests are varied and include medical management of critical care cases, particularly, wound management, exotic animal care, and husbandry, and soft tissue surgery. When asked, she says her primary job as a veterinarian is to protect the human-animal bond through wellness and promotion of quality of life.
Moving to New Mexico after veterinary school was inspired by Dr. Mills’ fiancé, whom she met during veterinary school at Kansas State University. She’s become particularly attached to New Mexico and loves the gorgeous sunsets and fantastic weather. When not at work, she enjoys running, yoga, cooking, reading, hiking, and traveling when she can. Not only does Dr. Mills love taking care of the many critters she sees every day through the clinic, but she has a wide variety of animals at home to take care of as well including three dogs, three cats, four horses, six ducks, twenty chickens, and forty-two cows.
